Whitfield & Crane Wins $180 Million Judgment Against Offshore Ponzi Operators
Press Release
A federal court has entered a $180 million judgment in favor of Whitfield & Crane clients against the offshore operators of a real-estate syndication scheme that collapsed in 2024, defrauding investors across 11 states.
The judgment follows a four-week trial in which the firm established that the operators had fabricated property portfolios and diverted investor funds through nominee accounts in three offshore jurisdictions.
“The operators assumed distance would protect them. We proved that assumption wrong in court and we will now enforce this judgment wherever their assets can be found,” said Daniel Okafor, lead trial counsel.
The firm’s asset recovery team has already identified properties, bank accounts and digital assets subject to enforcement, and has initiated proceedings in the relevant jurisdictions.
